What is Radon?

Radon is a radioactive gas that is the result of the natural breakdown of Uranium in ALL rocks and soils. Radon gas is odourless, tasteless and invisible. When Radon gas is released into the outdoor air, it is diluted and is not a concern. However, when Radon gas enters enclosed spaces, such as a house, its accumulation can reach levels which can pose a health risk.

What are the Health Risks of Radon?

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer, after smoking, and the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers in Canada.

How does Radon enter a Home?

Radon gas may enter your home at any opening where the house contacts there soil. These openings can exist in new houses as well as older houses.


How do we Test for Radon?

Radon testing involves the placement of approved Radon measurement devices in your home. These devices are placed in the lowest occupied area of your home. Once the test period is completed, the devices will be retrieved for analysis. The results will be reviewed with you.

How long is a Radon Test?

The test period will be 3 months (90 days) in duration. This time period is in accordance with Health Canada’s approved recommendations.

Radon Measurement Fee: $285.00 + HST

Payment is due once the approved devices have been placed in the house.
